Big Echo Karaoke

Well, we didn't have to walk far to find the Karaoke centre. There was a Big Echo, which is one of the main Karaoke chains in Tokyo, literally right around the corner from our hotel. We had heard that they have a great selection of modern, English tracks to chose from.

We went to the main reception and booked a 2 person booth for 2 hours. It was now 9pm. We were given the card for a room on the second floor and took the lift up.

We were excited like little kids when we entered the room and the whole setup was first class. You had a sofa which stretch the whole side of the room, a table in the middle with food and drink menus, at least a 50 inch screen with the most advanced screen pad i've ever seen, and then a telephone to ring through your orders. Amazing! The pad for the song selections also detached, so you could just sit back and enter your tunes of choice wirelessly. The only problem was that all of the controls were in Japanese, so it took us a bit of trial and error to figure out how to make our selections - but once we did it once, we were rolling.

Leanne kicked off with DJ Sammy "Heaven", whilst I phoned through a food and drinks order. I'd need at least 2 or 3 pints before I would sing, even if it was just in front of Leanne! Within 2 minutes we had the drinks delivered to our booth, far too convenient! Within 30 minutes, and a few beers in, the tunes were flowing...

Whitney, Jay Z, Beyonce, Aerosmith, Cindy Lauper, Queen, Mariah, Madonna and even more modern tracks like Linkin Park and Katy Perry!

The choice was endless and we literally had a book the size the yellow pages to flick through. So much to chose from, and so much fun.

Needless to say, the 2 hours wasn't long enough and we crawled out of the place in the early hours having extended the room twice... You pay on exit, and the bill was quite shock - can't believe how many beers we got through. Although Leanne did say that it was hard to get the mic off me towards the end of the night.

Highly recommended! If you come to Tokyo, you have to do Big Echo!
