Can't find any Sumos

Despite the late night, we got up extra early this morning to go and watch the Sumos train. We got to the Sumo stadium at around 9am, and it was all closed up. We walked around the whole area and couldn't find any signs of Sumos at all. We did find a beautiful park though, where we sat and had a coffee and completely chilled out.

After that we could see a few people entering the main entrance to the stadium, and then saw that the Sumo museum opened at 10am. We had a look around and saw photos and handprints of all of the past Yukozunas (Sumo world champions). However, still no actual Sumos...

We then spoke to one of the employees at the museum, and he told us that we would need to go to one of the Sumo's stables where they train in the mornings from 6-10am. That is the only way we would get to see them. He also gave us a map and showed us the local stables in the area. We are planning to get up extra early tomorrow to see them train. Can't wait.

We also learnt that there was supposed to be a Sumo Championship this week, but that it has been cancelled due to corruption and bribery investigations. Because of the pride and honour with the national sport, the governing body have suspended all tournaments until the investigations are complete. That's a shame as it would have been awesome to watch - the stadium was huge and the atmosphere in the videos we watch at the museum looked pretty full on.

Lets hope we see some Sumos tomorrow...
