Tsujiki Fish Market

We got to the fish market early doors, and the place was in full effect. This is without a doubt the most craziest, buzzing and chaotic places we have been to so far in Tokyo. You had to have eyes in the back of your head to dodge the rickshaws racing around with boxes of fish on the back, or the trucks backing up to take the catch out to the local restaurants. It actually made us feel quite stressed and like we were in the way, these people clearly have work to do - but it was still well worth it!

I just can't believe the sheer amount and variety of fish we have seen this morning. As we walked round, I said to Leanne that there cant be many more fish left in the sea. There were literally hundreds and hundreds of stalls selling every type of fish, crab, shellfish, octopus.... You name it, they had it and nothing seemed to go to waste. We saw tunas that were bigger than Leanne! I know she's a short arse, but thats still large for a fish!

5ft Tuna Fillets...

The other surprising thing was just how alive all of the fish were. Not just things like crabs and lobsters, but the actual fish, just chilling there and blinking. Absolutely crazy... It was also definitely the cleanest market we have ever been to. As much effort was spent washing and cleaning up, as there was selling the fish. There also wasn't the bad smell that we we're expecting. It was all done with military precision, and total pride. Really impressive.

We're now sat here in a coffee stall, on the outside of the Market, and are literally just enjoying the fact that we don't have to watch our back. Slowly unwinding.

It's 11:30 and time to find some Sushi...
