China Union Card?

And then we ran out of money...

We didn't realise we were so close to using up all our cash but after buying loads of toys, an iPad lead (which only Andy can explain), we didn't even have enough money for a coffee or to get the metro back to our hotel.

Now, you'd think that wouldn't be a problem, wouldn't you?

As it turns out, there were ATMs in abundance, they just don't accept foreign cards (unless you're part of the China Union?!). Japan hasn't linked their banking systems to the overseas card network yet. This we found out after reading the Lonely Planet Guide, our last resort (you'd think we would have checked before we left...).

The Post Office is the only way for foreigners to get cash out in Japan and it closes at 5pm. It was just before 5pm when we found this out - where to find a Post Office in less than 5min?!

As if by magic, we turned around, and there, right behind us, was a Postal ATM. Someone is obviously looking after us!
