Hamarikyu Gardens and Tokyo Tower

Spent the afternoon in Hamarikyu Gardens by Tokyo Bay. The sun was out again and it gave us a real chance to relax and chill after this mornings madness! It's very similar to Central Park in New York, where you have a large open space surrounded by huge skyscrapers. A lot of the trees were just starting to blossom and it made for some great photos.

In the background, between 2 of the skyscrapers we could see Tokyo Tower. It looks like a carbon copy of the Eiffel Tower, but it's orange and they made it 13 meters taller just to show the world they were better than the French!

Following nothing but the skyline, we made our way over to the tower. It looked closer than it was and took a good 40 minutes to get there. But it was well worth it! We paid the extra amount to go to the top viewing observatory which is about 300 meters high and the views were amazing. It was a really clear day and you could see all over the city. We got some great pics and it was good to point out all of the places we had been to over the last couple of days. Unfortunately, the day wasn't clear enough for us to see Mt Fuji, which was just a large haze in the distance. We just aren't meant to see that mountain!!! One of my favourite things on the tower was the glass floor on the lower observatory - looking down to the street below was awesome!

Took the subway back to Tokyo station and brought our bullet train tickets for Kyoto! All booked and ready to go.

Time for a quick shower and then out - hitting a Karaoke Bar tonight! Leanne is primed and ready since being banned from Sing Star 6 months ago!!!

Update in the morning, probably with a headache...
